Houston Prepless Veneers

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Houston Prepless Veneers One of the latest breakthroughs in Houston cosmetic dentistry is prepless veneers. Though thousands of smile restoration clients who have received traditional veneers are happy with the results, some Texas dental patients have delayed this procedure because they do not want to lose healthy tooth structure.

Prepless veneers in the Houston area are a less-invasive procedure for transforming smiles. Prepless veneers are incredibly thin shells which adhere to the face of teeth and require no removal of tooth enamel. Most prepless veneers are about the thickness of two pieces of paper. Because the color is built into the veneers (instead of being applied after fabrication), they look like your natural teeth–only better!

Our experienced Texas ceramists are skilled artists. They create each custom dental veneer with the optimum shape, color and thickness for your new smile. Another great feature of the prepless veneers application procedure is that it requires no anesthesia or drilling.

If you are embarrassed by misaligned, discolored or broken teeth, prepless veneers may be a Houston smile restoration solution that you can feel good about.

Call Willowbrook Dental Care in Houston to learn more about prepless veneers. It is the first step toward your dazzling new smile!

Why Aren’t You Smiling?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

why-frown-1Hello, I’m Dr. J. Scott Anderson. My dental practice is called Willowbrook Dental Care. We are located at 17350 State Highway 249, Suite 200, Houston, TX 77064, and you can reach us by calling (281) 571-3760.

You can probably imagine why I look at smiles everywhere I go in the Houston area. Whether I am working with a West University Place or Spring Valley dental patient, having dinner at a Houston restaurant, or attending a sporting event, I notice whether the people around me smile. Whenever I encounter someone with obvious tooth problems, I want to tell them about the procedures that can completely transform their frown into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Are you one of those people who don’t want to show their teeth? I would love to talk to you about a smile makeover. Whatever your excuse is for notseeking dental treatment, I can discuss all of your concerns with you during a free consultation.

Perhaps you are afraid of dental work. Have you ever considered oral conscious sedation? With sedation dentistry, even extensive treatment is virtually pain free. Sedation will calm your mind as well as the nerves in your mouth.

Perhaps the cost of Houston cosmetic dentistry is holding you back. My very comfortable and friendly staff will be happy to talk to you about financing plans. It is important to remember that if your teeth are decayed, postponing treatment will cost more money in the long run. Filling a cavity is far more affordable dentistry than a root canal procedure or, in the case of an extracted tooth, a dental implant.

You can contact my office at (281) 571-3760 or online at http://www.thehoustoncosmeticdentist.com. My Houston family dental website contains information about all the general, restorative and aesthetic services we provide.

I can transform your smile into one that you will want to show all the time!

Sedation Dentistry in Houston

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Sedation Dentistry in Houston Picture the following scenario: You are stretched out in a chair at your dentist’s office holding a remote as you try to tune into your favorite Texas radio station. An assistant clips a paper bib around your neck. Someone switches on a bright overhead light and you see latex-gloved hands moving toward your open mouth. You close your eyes.

As you read this, does your heart begin racing? Are your palms sweaty?

If so, you may be a good candidate for sedation dentistry. Oral sedation benefits nervous dental patients in Houston every day. Moderate sedation is used for all types of dental procedures such as root canals, dental implants, and wisdom teeth removal. If you are considering extensive restorative or cosmetic dental work, conscious sedation may allow your dentist to complete multiple procedures in a single visit.

Don’t let fear prevent you from getting the dental treatment you need. Schedule a visit with Dr. J. Scott Anderson to learn about conscious sedation dentistry.

Gummy Smile?

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Gummy Smile? Many Houston cosmetic dentistry patients with a gummy smile undergo crown lengthening surgery to bring proper balance and symmetry to their smile. Gum tissue and, in some cases, bone is removed to expose more of the visible part of a tooth. It is a safe procedure that does not affect healthy tooth structure.

A ‘gummy smile’ is a term used to describe a smile with teeth that appear too short because an unusual amount of bone and soft tissue hide part of the crown. Our Houston cosmetic dental patients who have opted for crown lengthening love how their new perfect smile looks and feels. Some of our crown lengthening clients also choose teeth whitening for an extra-dazzling smile!

Crown lengthening is not used solely for cosmetic reasons. When a tooth is injured and breaks at the gum line or if a filling or crown comes off a tooth that contains decay, crown lengthening makes additional tooth structure accessible for further restorative work. It is also used to treat some types of periodontal disease.

At J. Scott Anderson DDS, we perform cosmetic and restorative crown lengthening for patients in the Houston area. The surgery can be performed by a general dentist, periodontist or oral surgeon.

If you are interested in crown lengthening or other cosmetic dental procedures, schedule an exam by calling  (281) 571-3760. We are conveniently located at 17350 State Highway 249, Suite 200, Houston, TX.  When you come in, we can show you before and after photos of Texas cosmetic dentistry clients who are enjoying their new smile.

J. Scott Anderson DDS on Jaw Bone Deterioration

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Fremont Jaw Bone Deterioration To remain dense, your jaw bone requires the continual stimulation and pressure of chewing, biting and talking. Each of your teeth has a root structure attached to the surrounding bone material. As each tooth absorbs the forces of everyday mouth function, it stimulates the bone to which the root is attached.

When a tooth is extracted, the jaw bone that previously surrounded the root structure begins to recede. Though tooth extraction is often the only possible treatment for our patients with tooth damage beyond repair, every effort should be made to preserve the root structure.

Fortunately, tooth implants provide a new root which keeps the surrounding bone healthy and strong. A dental implant consists of a titanium post which is placed in the jaw bone. It replaces the original root and eventually integrates into the surrounding bone. After the implant has been placed and the surrounding bone has healed and meshed with the implant, a post is inserted into the implant. The new artificial tooth, or crown, is then attached to the post. Implant restoration is a safe and effective treatment for tooth loss.

To learn more about dental implants, call Dr. J. Scott Anderson at  (281) 571-3760. The friendly professionals at Willowbrook Dental Care in Houston provide world-class dental treatment for patients.

We’re your lifelong dental health partner.

Cosmetic Dentistry Options

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Cosmetic Dentistry Options Have you thought about upgrading your smile? Cosmetic dentistry offers many exciting possibilities.

The quickest and least invasive procedure is light teeth whitening. The results are dramatic and teeth whitening side effects are minimal.

If your teeth are slightly crooked, but require no orthodontic work, porcelain veneers could be the answer. Porcelain teeth veneers are translucent, wafer-thin covers that are permanently attached to the front of teeth, correcting chips and stains. Prepless veneers do not require the removal of tooth structure.

If your teeth are more than slightly crooked, it’s not too late for braces. Patients of all ages are undergoing orthodontic treatment and achieving fantastic results. The newest braces are less noticeable, more comfortable and bring teeth into alignment much faster than old-school metal braces.

Has gum recession caused the metal base of an old crown to be visible? Soft tissue grafts and crown replacement can correct this problem.

Are you missing one or more teeth? One of the best tooth replacement options is a dental implant. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

Can you envision yourself with a dental makeover?
